Peru    My destination

I visited Peru from Dec-23 2002 to Jan-1 2003. It was very interesting, to see the several sites like Lima,  Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. The people in Peru are warm hearted and have given me some wonderful 10 days in Peru.

Peru is located in Western South America, bordering the South Pacific Ocean, between Chile and Ecuador.

Ancient Peru was the seat of several prominent Andean civilizations, most notably that of the Incas whose empire was captured by the Spanish conquistadores, Francisco Pizarro in 1533.

With a height of 6.271 m, the Salcantay is the second highest mountain in the Andes.

The Andes people still adore the highest summits as gods, called Apus.  Every Apu lives in a mountain and has a certain character. They only speak in Quechua that is a traditional language of Incas.

Cusco is the archaeological capital of the Americans and also used to be the capital of the Inca empire.

The Sacred City, Machu Picchu was built between two sharp peaks, and  800m below twists

the Urubamba  River through the 90° steep rock walls.
